Stitch

All my work seems to involve some form of stitch whether tradtional or contemporary.

You can learn how to do stitches on Sharon Bloggon site www.pintangle.com
I was asked to show how to do my Dorset loops which are on many of my embellished embroideries.
Dorset Loop 1

Dorset Loop 1

Take a curtain ring the size you want for your work. Allow a long length of thread, threaded through your needle, doubled and make a knot on the end.

Dorset Loop 2

Dorset Loop 2

Take your thread in and around your ring and go between your thread to secure it onto the loop.

Dorset Loop 3

Dorset Loop 3

Go through the ring and back through between your threads again, pull tight!

Dorset Loop 5

As you can see it looks like Blanket stich which it is avariation of. Carry on like this until you cover the complete ring.

I love using these Dorset Loops in my decorative embroidery and embellishments.
