I am learning to put videos on my various sites and they all take a different sort of jiggling to get it right.I am enjoying the process of finding the video, working out the computer, technical know how and then enjoying the outcome when it is visually on my site and where I want it. I am going to use the videos as inspiration to extend my creativity, share the artist work and hopefully inspire new ideas in you the viewer.

Stained Glass Patchwork
April 7th, 2011Tuesdays @The Gallery Dereham are always busy and I get to tutor students
through many different mixed media techniques.
Carol is making a Stained Glass Patchwork Wall Hanging,
( a form of applique method of patchwork).
I designed the pattern from a photograph Carol gave me of a
picture of a stained glass window.
As you can see she has produced it really well!
She chose to use mainly dyed fabrics to give the effect of the
original blown glass.
I just love it.
The borders are due to go on and the quilting.
Well done Carol!

The Queen’s Dressmaker
April 6th, 2011Mrs Peggy Umpelby came to or local Embroidery Guild Meeting.

and work.
She has been part of the Royal Dressmaking Team for over forty years and has
a personal Royal Warrant for her work.
“Mrs. Peggy’ as she is known by many has worked with designers such as,
The Emanuals, Hardy Amies and Catherine Walker to mention a few,
producing amazing beaded creations which many of us have seen
in press photographs.

Card Making
March 25th, 2011I love learning new techniques and this week I went to a card making class with
Kim, a Tutor @ The Gallery Dereham.
Kim demonstrated different techniques and we learnt how stamp,
emboss, cut out and colour our Mandala patterns.
I loved using the shimmer water colour paints and went and
brought myself some so I could continue when the class finished
at lunch time.
This is my second card that I finished that afternoon.
Mandalas aren’t meant to be entirely perfect can you see what is different?
(clue: Look to the edges).
This card gave me the inspiration to make a silk painted wallhanging and
a video step by step

Star Quilt
March 21st, 2011On Saturday because the weather was fine I was able to take my king size Star Quilt outside and photograph it.
I dyed the star fabric and over dyed the corner batik fabric. it is all cut with the rotary cutter and made in strips.
I always use the rotary cutter now for accuracy when it comes to make blocks and accurate piecing. It is machine pieced and quilted.
This is one of my favourite quilts. Do you have a favourite?

Textile Art History
March 17th, 2011I am really inspired by textiles and this program is about the hidden history of textiles from India.
It starts at Hardwick Hall in England and travels to India. The presenter Griff Rhys Jones is so sympathetic and interested in the making of the art and textiles it makes this film even more fabulous. Be ready for colour, inspiration and sensational insights. The link finishes on the 18th of March 2011 but hopefully will be repeated.
