Embellishment- Red

This work inspired by Marine Biology and the toxic chemicals that are within our oceans and was made for an Exhibition at The Art Centre Kings Lynn.

It is now on permanent display to the public at The Old Art Room, Swaffham.

The Toxic Stack started off as many different scraps of red textured fabrics which i appliqued to a backing fabric. Each section was then embroidered, quilted, beaded and stuffed. You can see the fabric of The stack behind my ‘Vanitas’ photograph. Many of you are aware I use this as a profile picture, throughout the web.

This still life of my Benina sewing machine emulates the tradtional Vanitas still life paintings and interprets some of the items I use in  my working practice. Vanitas because of the positioning of  the chosen items to represent the body of work and meanings within life.
